A program for production of carbon-tritium isotope, which is used for defense programs, is now implemented at one of the U.S. nuclear power reactors "Watts Bar-1”, owned by TVA energy company. The program is directed by the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Nowadays the USA cannot overcome the technical hurdles, which emerged while producing tritium for military agencies. The problem of taking necessary measures for restocking tritium supplies was first raised in August 1993 by the GAO auditors.
