Abstract: During the extraction and processing of minerals, a large volume of fine-grained materials is formed, which are difficult, and sometimes impossible, to use for further processing. Therefore, they are often agglomerated. The developed and manufactured laboratory extruders of various designs are considered. The effect of various parameters of these presses on the results of their operation is shown. Data on the effect of press operating parameters and briquetted batch compositions on the main physical and mechanical properties of the obtained extrudates are presented. The effect of the taper angles of the dies (15, 30, 45, 60 degrees) on the strength characteristics of the briquettes was studied. The effect of the type and content of the binder on the strength characteristics of the briquettes and their water absorption was studied. It was found that with an increase in the taper angle of the dies, the strength of the briquettes decreases, but when using a die with a taper angle of 15 degrees, clogging of the apparatus occurs. Reducing the taper angle of the die increases the resistance to the charge movement through it, leading to greater compression of the material. The strength and water absorption of the briquettes increase with an increase in the content of the binder. The obtained results are the basis for adjusting the design and subsequent manufacture of a pilot industrial model of a screw extruder.
